Treatment

Physiotherapy is an excellent choice of treatment for many joint and muscle problems, whether sustained from a sports injury or not. At the West Byfleet Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic we treat a wide variety of conditions. Here are some examples:

Neck Pain
Including whiplash injuries, headaches and stiffness.

Back Pain
Any thoracic or lower back problems.

Sports Injuries
Including joint or soft tissue and muscle strains and pains.

Rehabilitation
For example, following orthopaedic surgery (if you are unable to attend the clinic for treatment, we can always arrange for a physiotherapist to do a home visit to enable as speedy recovery as possible).

Women's Health
Including stress incontinence and pre- and post-natal treatment.

Neurological Conditions
Again home visits can be arranged for treatment, if this is appropriate.

Methods of Treatment
All the Physiotherapists at the clinic favour a ‘hands on’ approach to restoring clients back to full health and fitness. Different treatment modalities are used, after a thorough history has been taken and a clinical examination has been made. This could include any of the following, as appropriate:

Joint Mobilisations

• Joint Manipulation (where appropriate)

• Soft Tissue Techniques (including Massage and Trigger Point Release Techniques)

• Posture Correction Exercises (and advice as needed)

• Gym Ball Exercise Programmes

• Rehabilitation Exercises (following sports injury or orthopaedic surgery)

• Acupuncture (for pain relief)

• Electrotherapy (including Ultrasound, Pulsed Short-Wave and TENS)

Methods of Referral

1. Self Referral

Anyone can come along to the clinic if they want to receive private physiotherapy treatment.

2. GP Referral

Your GP may suggest physiotherapy and will often write a letter of referral to us.

3. Consultant Referral

If you have seen a Hospital Consultant or had surgery, your surgeon may feel further physiotherapy is required following discharge from hospital, and give you a referral letter.

4. Insurance Companies

Some companies will refer you for treatment to us following trauma, e.g. a car accident. For more information on insurance please click here.
