Hilary Aiken (Director) MCSP MMACP

Hilary qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1980 and since 2014 has been the sole Director of WBPC.  She has gained extensive specialist experience in orthopaedics, particularly post-operative rehabilitation, including joint replacement surgery.  Hand/wrist injuries are also of interest to Hilary, as well as sport injuries especially tennis, which she enjoys playing.

Functional movement assessment & designing re-educative exercise programmes specific to each individual, is always a part of her treatment, as well as manual/ hands-on techniques & acupuncture for pain relief, as appropriate.


Andrea Bird MCSP

Andy qualified in 1991 and specialised in musculoskeletal out patients in 1994. She worked for the NHS for ten years before moving solely into private practice. Andy loves to work holistically to uncover the root cause of an injury. She combines hands-on treatment with exercises to promote efficient movement.

Andy’s special interests are dinghy sailing and cycling.


Claudine 20-01-2016 22-13-26Claudine Chiplin BSc (Hons) MCSP HCPC

Claudine graduated with honours in 1990 and worked in the NHS for eight years before moving into private practice, where she has continued to develop her interest in working with the whole sports spectrum of elite athletes, through to weekend warriors and their supporters. A background in sport as a competitor and Physiotherapist helps Claudine understand the ever-increasing demands that sport and daily life place on the body. The last decade has seen Claudine set-up and establish the In-house Physiotherapy triage clinic for the students and tutors at The Guildford School of Acting.

With a Post-Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy for Sports Injuries and skills and experience as an Accredited Life Coach with a Health Coaching Diploma, Claudine’s approach to her patient’s is holistic and positive, aiming to collaborate with patient’s in helping them achieve their treatment goals.


Sue Gaastra MCSP

Sue trained at Guy’s Hospital, qualifying in 1978. She worked in the NHS for 15 years before moving into private practice. Her major post graduate courses have been in Manual Therapy and Traditional Chinese Acupuncture. Her manual therapy course lead her on to examining post-graduate students working towards Masters Degree in manual therapy. Her acupuncture includes the treatment of diverse problems such as hay fever, headache, period pain, nausea and vomiting, as well as joint pains.

Additionally, she has worked for the London Marathon for 30 years, organising physiotherapy cover for the course. Her outside interests include ballet dancing, tap, jazz/singing, amateur dramatics, walking and skiing.


Karen Painter MCSP  AACP

Karen trained at the Middlesex Hospital and qualified in 1991. She worked at Whipps Cross Hospital in London before heading off to New Zealand to work in both hospital and private practice. On her return she spent two years at Woking Community Hospital and has since been based in at the West Byfleet Physiotherapy Clinic for the past 16 years.

Karen has over 25 years experience in physiotherapy.

She has a keen interest in treating headaches, musculoskeletal problems and using acupuncture which can be included within the treatment session if indicated.


Jeremy Symes MSc MCSP  registered

Jeremy undertook his physiotherapy degree at Brunel University and qualified in 2000. He initially worked at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital before joining Your Healthcare at Surbiton in the role of specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist. This role includes running a lower back pain assessment clinic, acupuncture treatment clinic and Pilates group classes. He combines this with his work at West Byfleet Physiotherapy Clinic.

Jeremy is a qualified Pilates instructor and also has a Masters degree in Western Medical Acupuncture. He has also more recently completed an accredited cognitive behavioural therapy course as well as a series of applied functional science courses. This enables him to utilise a wide range of skills in his physiotherapy practice, with an emphasis on individually tailored treatment programmes. He enjoys treating a variety of conditions but has a particular interest in neck, back, and shoulder problems. Jeremy’s interests include gym, piano, road cycling, and golf.


Christiane Mackie MCSP Christiane photo

Christiane qualified in 1987, before specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in 1991. She has worked in a number NHS hospitals and private clinics in Yorkshire, Hampshire and Surrey. She pays particular attention to both posture and quality of movement to help give patients an understanding of their condition for greater control in managing their condition and injury prevention.

Her personal interests includ pilates, yoga and dance.


Cian 20th August 2016

Cian Doyle MCSP

Cian graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2010 with a First Class degree. Cian then went on to complete his rotations in Leicester in the NHS. Following this he moved to New Zealand where he worked with the Ministry of Defence. On his return Cian has re-joined the NHS as a Senior Musculoskeletal physiotherapist.

Cian has also worked with rugby, football and swimming clubs. Cian has a special interest in persistent lower back pain and ACL injuries. Outside of work Cian likes to keep fit in the gym or playing Gaelic sports.



Womens Health Physiotherapy

Shernaz is our Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health (Obstetric, Gynaecological and Urology) Physiotherapist. Shernaz is available to treat a variety of conditions associated with Women’s Health at our clinic.

She belongs to the Association of Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP). She will assess and treat the musculo-skeletal problems that occur pre- and post-childbirth.

She can also assess and treat any gynaecological or urinary and bowel problems occurring in women. She is also a qualified Pilates instructor and runs both individual sessions and classes.
